Casa Nepal is a safe home for Gender Based Violence survivors (GBV) and their children, Located in Kathmandu Nepal. Women and their children are rescued from their violent situations and come to live at Casa Nepal and they can stay up to a year or more and during that time they receive an extensive amount of services and supports; including, medical services, legal services, psychological counseling services, training in a skill such as tailoring, hair dressing and hospitality, children’s programs & education, rehabilitation, life skills education, dance therapy, yoga, skill development training, literacy class, home based production training, professional training in a variety of areas, reintegration assistance, and follow up. Sisters for Peace provides scholarships to women so they can attend the rehabilitation program.
In 2016, Casa Nepal hosted 85 women and 30 children survivors of Gender Based Violence. The cases came from different districts such as Dolakha, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchok, Bardiya and as remote as Kalikot. The types of GBV seen this year varied from sexual abuse, denial of resources and physical abuse.
Sisters for Peace collaborates with Casa Nepal on two projects.
Sisters for Peace sponsors women for the year long program, and we donate foot peddle sewing machines to the tailoring program, so upon graduation from Casa Nepal, each woman can take a sewing machine with her to start her new career.
