Irene & Her Sisters I continue to be awed and inspired by the generosity and compassion that I see around me. Shortly after arriving in Tanzania, we were informed about a young nursing student, Irene, who could not pay her tuition because her Mother just passed away suddenly, leaving Irene 18, and her three younger Sisters, Jesca 14, Katherine, 8 and little Nora, 4 on their own.
The situation seemed quite hopeless as Jesca was caring for her two younger sisters alone while Irene was trying to stay in nursing school, with no money coming in so the family could survive.
A board member of Sisters for Peace offered to pay for Irene’s tuition, however Irene's sisters need care so that Irene can stay in school.
Sisters for Peace was able to interview and hire a live in care taker to care for the younger sisters and provide a monthly allowance for food and supplies and little Nora's Pre-School.
